Zeke, the kitten, had been alone for a long time, fending for himself until he was finally rescued and brought to Community Cat Club.

At six months old, he was timid and lost but didn’t have a mean bone in his body. “His little pitiful face could probably tell a sad tale if he could talk,” Michelle, a foster volunteer of Community Cat Club, shared.

She opened her home to the deserving kitten and was determined to help him learn to trust.

Shortly after arriving in foster care, Zeke sought refuge in a little cat house to decompress. Realizing the noise was gone and food was readily available, he slowly began to warm up to home life.

He was very scared, but when Michelle gently petted him, he didn’t pull away and gradually accepted her affection.

“He is super sweet and just wants to be comforted. He is the kind of cat who wants to be babied and reassured.”

While helping Zeke build confidence around people, Michelle noticed he was snuggly and drooled when petted. Though he tried to hide, once she got close, he relished the attention.

Hoping a confident cat would help Zeke come out of his shell, Michelle decided to bring in her resident cats, Poe and Hux. Poe visited the foster room a few times, and Zeke seemed very interested.

Despite his fear of people, Zeke ventured out of his hiding spot to follow Poe. Slowly but surely, Poe’s confidence rubbed off on him.

Encouraged by the resident cats, Zeke took his first steps into the dining room, beginning to discover what a home looked like.

Watching the interactions between the house cats and their human, he mustered the courage to seek affection from Michelle. “He’s a beautiful, sweet kitten who needs some patience to get used to new environments.”

“He likes to sit like a king, squinting in contentment. He likes to play hard to get but is easy to please by shaking some treats.”

“He does like to be picked up and belly rubs if done how he ‘likes it.’ He’s very sweet but also a little independent if it strikes his mood.”

Hux, the resident ginger, showed Zeke the ropes and led him to the dining table where they could survey the house like royalty. Zeke eagerly trailed behind, curious about his next adventure.

“Zeke makes a very fantastic play or snuggling companion for another cat, very cat friendly.”

The house cats boosted his confidence and showed him that humans aren’t so scary. They played and dined together. Hux taught Zeke some key wrestling moves, while Poe reassured him that he was loved.

“Although a little shy, we couldn’t understand why he kept getting passed up at adoption events,” the rescue shared.

“He has been waiting patiently in his foster home for a family to choose him. Finally, after three months of waiting, it’s Zeke’s turn.”

A lovely couple fell head over heels for the sweet gentle soul. Zeke was adopted and went to his new home, where his new cat brother awaited him.
